Happy Go Lucky is a walk-up window with a covered outdoor patio — which makes us an easy yes when you’ve got a dog with you. Order at the window, grab a picnic table under the covered patio, and your leashed pup can stretch out right next to you while you work on a shave ice. We keep water bowls filled on the patio so your dog can cool off too, and we’re happy to bring out a free cup of flavorless shave ice for your dog — no syrup, no added flavoring, just ask your server. The patio is shaded and strung with lights, so it stays comfortable from the afternoon heat straight through late-night hours. We just ask that dogs stay leashed and stay with you at your table so there’s room for everyone to move around.
Steps From the Heights Hike & Bike Trail
We’re on North Shepherd Drive, just minutes from the Heights Hike & Bike Trail — one of the best dog-walking routes in Houston. Finish a loop on the trail, walk over, and cool off together on the patio. It’s an easy add-on to a morning walk or an evening stroll around the Heights, and since we’re open until 11pm on weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturday, there’s no rush to get back before we close. Plenty of our regulars turn a trail walk into a shave ice stop.

Is Happy Go Lucky dog friendly?
Yes. Our Houston Heights location is a walk-up window with a covered outdoor patio, and leashed dogs are welcome on the patio any time we are open. No reservation needed.
Do dogs need to be on a leash?
Yes. Please keep your dog leashed and with you at your table. Short leashes help other guests and our staff move safely between the picnic tables.
Can my dog come inside?
All of our seating is outdoors, so there is no indoor dining area to worry about. Texas health regulations keep pets out of food-prep areas, so dogs should stay on the patio side of the window while you order.
Is the patio shaded?
Yes. The patio is covered, which keeps the tables out of direct Houston sun during the afternoon. Evenings under the string lights are a favorite time to bring a dog by.
Where can I walk my dog nearby?
The Heights Hike & Bike Trail is just a few minutes away and is one of the most popular dog-walking routes in the neighborhood. Many guests walk the trail and then stop in for shave ice afterward.
What time can I bring my dog?
Any time we are open. We serve Sunday through Thursday from 12pm to 11pm, and Friday and Saturday from 12pm to midnight.
