It is located on a rocky outcrop above the village of Streitberg and offers an impressive view of the valley. The castle was probably built in the 12th century by the counts of Andechs Meranien and was later owned by various noble families. In the year 1523 it was destroyed by the peasants in the Peasants' War and then fell into disrepair.
