The vacuum sealer was part of a chain of operations that turned flat material into shaped footwear, each station on the floor a specific skilled task. The factory on Arthurton Road was purpose built in 1926 and operating as the Purnell Shoe Company by the 1970s. Part of the Northcote Shoe Factory series.
